Chasing Videos

Fascinating. So, earlier today I was in the mood to hear Chasing Pavements by Adele. Yes, I’m in the mood to make myself really sad by listening to songs that remind me of how single I am.

So, this song:
was on my pain list today.

I’ve been using Blip.Fm for a few years now. I don’t use it frequently, but every once in a while I have a blippy day. To use it, you search for a song and preview all of the options, choosing the one you want to view or listen to. It’s like Twitter combined with Pandora.

The thing is, you have to wade through a lot of versions sometimes. I think Blip just pulls from the rest of the internet, which is cool. It’s slightly irritating when the content is no longer available, but this isn’t a post about Blip.

No, kids, this is much more fascinating. As I waded today, I saw face after face, looking into the camera, singing this song to me. It felt strange to be offered a glimpse at something as personal as someone sitting in their bedroom, singing a song.
Like this one.
I seriously want to hug the crap out of this girl.

And as I kept looking, I kept finding little bits of lives. People talking about their days. People nervously looking down as they sing. People singing this one song so soulfully that it hurt to see the look in their eyes and know this song means something to them right at that moment. People I’ll never meet. People who don’t even know I am watching them right now. It’s not creepy, either. I actually think it connects us even more.

I love the internet. That’s all I really had to say. Just needed to share it with someone.

For me, the song is “Why” by Annie Lennox. It was on my pain list twice today…

You know, maybe I shouldn’t watch the video. My ex looks like Annie Lennox. :-(
